NHS will be hosting a Karaoke Night this Wednesday, March 1st, from 3:30 – 5:30 in the auditorium.
The event is free, but you do need to RSVP at lunch in the HS courtyard.
The event will be catered by Pinkberry, so be sure to bring some cash for fro-yo!

To participate, students must submit their drawings by February 27th to the Ministry of Education (MOE) Department for Private Education in Mubarak Al Kabeer.
Students also must be sure to include the following information on the back of their poster: name of the student, name of school, name of the teacher assisting the student (if assisted), age of student, high school’s phone number, and guardian’s phone number.
Students are invited to participate in StuCo’s spirit dress day tomorrow by wearing red, white, or pink. This is not a free dress day – students must wear the spirit colors or the ASK uniform.
If student’s choose to wear spirit dress, please be sure to still meet the free dress expectations, including:
- No shorts.
- No rips above the knee.
- Shoulders must be covered.
Items will be for sale this week only, near the canteen, throughout lunch. See you there!

The Ministry of Health is organizing an art competition entitled “Health Posters”.
The aim of this competition is to encourage students to raise awareness about health in society using artistic posters.
Terms and conditions of the competition:
- Subject Choices: Stop Smoking — Fight Against Obesity — Importance of Exercise
- Posters have to be original (all ideas must be your own)
- Poster size: 50 x 70 cm
- Students must show creativity using a variety of techniques, colors, and/or mediums (i.e. oil based paint, watercolor, acrylic, paper collage, etc.)
- The back of the poster should have the following information: name of the student, name of school, name of the teacher assisting the student, age of student, high school’s phone number, and guardian’s phone number.
- Posters are due by February 27, 2017 and must be submitted to the Ministry of Education (MOE) Department for Private Education in Mubarak Al Kabeer.
Please note that there will be a ceremony at the Marina Hotel on March 8th, 2017 where the posters will be assessed and the winners will be announced and awarded various prizes. Winning posters will also be published and distributed to public and private schools for display.

Many of our our grade 9, 10, and 11 students have shown interest in attending the Elite College Preparatory Summer Academy, offered by Columbia University, but were experiencing difficulties when trying to register. These issues have now been rectified and all students who registered should have received an email. (If you did not, please drop by the HS Office and speak to Ms. Thomas.)

Once you register you will receive an email with your username and a temporary password, as well as a second email with further instructions about logging in, how to access the application, and the application deadline.
Please note that registration and applications are due by Thursday, February 16, 2017. Registered students will then be notified, by the end of February, whether they have been selected to move forward with taking the online admissions exam and any following steps.
