Important Message for Seniors!

Hello Seniors,

I hope you all enjoyed your summer and are looking forward to your final year at ASK!

Exciting and challenging times ahead!

I just thought I would write to remind you all of some very important points I raised during classroom visits and College Night last year.

The search for appropriate colleges and specific college requirements is ultimately your responsibility.
As advised, you should have already researched particular requirements for the majors and colleges you might be interested in.
Please make sure you have the courses required on your schedule to avoid last minute surprises.

KUWAITI NATIONALS

For those Kuwaiti Nationals who will be seeking a government scholarship, please remember that the Ministry of Higher Education requires you to take Pre-Calculus and Physics (in grades 11 or 12) for any science related majors such as engineering, architecture, medicine, pharmacy etc. Similarly, universities will require you to have these subjects (at least) on your high school transcript if you wish to pursue your higher education in a science-related field. Always refer to the universities’ website if you are in any doubt as to their requirements.

Work Habits & Learning Skills

HIGH SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION

HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL

Ms. Monique Livsey is from Atlanta, Georgia and has 23 years of experience in education. She has been a part of the ASK community for the past 20 years taking on roles and responsibilities of teacher, parent, and administrator. She taught Mathematics at the American School of Kuwait for 6 years, at the American University of Kuwait for 10 years, and is back at ASK for her fourth year as a high school administrator. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Math Education at Vanderbilt University and later earned a Masters of Architecture Degree from GA Tech University. In her spare time she likes to spend time with her family, learn about new cultures and travel.

HIGH SCHOOL ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

Gabriel Di Mauro is from Massachusetts, USA, and has 10 years of experience as an Educator. He attended the Waring School and then Gordon College, where he completed a B.A. in History, French, and Linguistics. In 2010, he moved to France where he taught in the Académie Orléans-Tours school system, completed an M.A. in Law, Economics and Management at the Université Aix-Marseille, and, most importantly, met his wife Aurélie. The International School phase of his career began at the International Bilingual School of Provence, where he served as Associate IB Coordinator, U.S. College Counselor, Service Learning Coordinator, and 6-12 Humanities Teacher. Just after completing an M.A. in Educational Leadership at the University of London in 2018, he joined the American International School of Mozambique, where he has served as K-12 Curriculum Coordinator, DP Coordinator, High School Vice Principal, and 6-12 Humanities Teacher. He enjoys cooking and traveling with his wife, learning languages, and reading obscure French Literature.
